Hey I've lurked on the old forum for awhile, but honestly was pretty tired of all the porn. I like this new one. I've competed in strongman and powerlifting for a couple of years now, I'm now more focused on strongman. I'm 31 and compete in either the 175# or 200# class. My goal for this upcoming year is to go to NAS nationals as a 175'r. My next contest is the Timber Gym Strongman Open on Sept. 27th in Aberdeen WA. I'm recently coming off a hip injury and wasn't planning on competing, but what the hell. This was my first events training since the injury, it didn't go to bad.
9/14/08
12" Log Press (1clean) 90x2x8 140x5 160x1 200x1 On the last set I just missed getting a second one.
Farmers 120x100ft (1 turn) 225x50ft
Yoke 300x100ft 575x50ft
I didn't do anything special today, but I am excited because this is the most weight I've moved in awhile. And best of all pain free!!!

Hey Brent, we got most of our equiptment from Alan at pitbull. Most of our event training is down out of my garage. The neighbors love atlas stones and tires in the front yard.

Yoke 300x100ft 390x50ft 575x25ft

Tire Flip 260x4x1 550x1
On Saturday I will be limping through the Timber Gym Strongman Open. I don't really have high hopes for this one, I just want to make it through a couple events, my hip is not fully recovered yet and I haven't been able to really train for it so I just want to have some fun. I think I'll probably scratch the DL and Tire events. Today the farmers felt great, the yoke not so great and the dl and tire terrible.

TIMBER GYM STRONGMAN OPEN This contest was alot of fun and ran pretty smoothly other than the farmers event. But I'm sure Don learned alot from it and will make it even better next year. I competed in the 200# class, going into it my plan was to have some fun, and not take it too seriously. I planned on skipping the deadlift event due to injury so I knew that I wouldn't win anyway so I just wanted to have fun and maybe set a pr on something. Both happened, so it was a good day. 12" Log Clean and Press 200 # My previous best with this weight was 1 rep today I got 3, for a huge pr. I have to say I was pretty happy with it. Tied for 1st. Farmers 225# 60-70ft course I'm not sure the distance on it but it was pretty short. The weight was light enough I though it would be a piece of cake. Boy was I wrong. Donny finished making the implements last night so this was the first time I'd used them. They sucked. He cut a barbell and welded it onto a stand so the weight was up off the ground, they were not balanced and when you dropped them the tipped over. Everyone there struggled with them. They were very awkward and I'd say unsafe. Anyway I took them for I think 40 ft or so before I dropped them, and it took so much time and energy to set them back up that I was screwed at that point. Any how 2nd place here (there were only two in my class) Axel Deadlift for reps 375# I skipped this one due to my hip and took the zero Yoke 575# 60-70ft course The yoke felt great and I moved it pretty good about ten feet from the finish I stumbled and dropped it picked it right back up and finished. 2nd place Tire Flip 600#?? 60-70ft course I'd estimate the weight at 600ish but it's really hard to say. I felt great on this and did a good job for me. 2nd place Overall I took 2nd out of 2 or I guess last. But I'm really happy with the log pr. And I had alot of fun.

10/5/08
Yoke 210x200 ft (turn at midpoint) 300x100 ft 390x100 ft 480x100 ft
I focused more on foot speed today on the yoke, also I didn't wear a belt on any sets today I think that will help with my core strength. After looking at some pictures and video from recent contests I think that my core strength (or lack there of) is really holding me back. I also loaded a 190 stone to out low platform a couple of times, we had a couple of new guys training with us today so I was just showing them how to do it.
